Supine Pose

  • Lying face up, arms stretched beside the body.
  • Bring the chin down to comfortably rest the spine to the ground.

General and Boxing-specific Benefits

The Supine pose is a standard relaxation pose. It is an opportunity to completely relax, return to normal breathing patterns, assess the body, and release any unnecessary tension.

Cautions and Modified Versions

Participants with spinal discomfort in the Supine pose may need to bend or place a bolster beneath the knees. When bending the knees towards the chest, participants may need to move the knee to the side as wide as is comfortable.

Anatomical Focus

Spine/Core: Diaphragm, abdominals

Upper limbs: Biceps brachii, triceps brachii, deltoid

Lower limbs: Hip flexors
